Crew Leadership
Lead Trail Crews
We can't maintain or improve the Tahoe Rim Trail without trained, dedicated crew leaders. If you enjoy the TRT and want to make a special contribution to keeping it a great trail then contact us to find out how to become a Tahoe Rim Trail Crew Leader. The Tahoe Rim Trail volunteer crew leaders are extraordinary people who choose to spend their time and energy toward the common goal of finishing and maintaining the trail. It is clear that without the efforts of all the volunteers and crew leaders, we would not be where we are today.
Working with volunteers is a lot of fun and very different from working with people getting paid for the work. Volunteers want to be there! They are up early on the weekend, ready to go out somewhere and work all day long. Working with people like this is a privilege, and crew leaders have a responsibility to make sure they enjoy the time they spend working on the trail. Crew leaders are there to teach new skills, help volunteers network, ensure safety and recognize volunteers for their contribution.
"Giving people a great trail, opportunities to enjoy the awesome vistas of our mountains and lake Tahoe, creating something that will be enjoyed 200 years from now, that's what makes being a crew leader worthwhile."- TRTA Crew Leader
We encourage interested individuals to attend our May Trail Building and Crew Leader Training first. Each potential crew leader will keep track of their accomplishments on a qualifications checklist and these individuals will be mentored by our Senior Crew Leaders as they learn how to build trail and lead crews.
We need crew leaders for both maintenance and new construction! If you have questions or are interested, please contact the Director of Trail Operations 775-298-0232.
