Why Adopt a Vista or Mile?
Individuals, families, and organizations can help to ensure the continuing legacy of the Tahoe Rim Trail by adopting your own vista or mile! As an Adopt-A-Vista / Adopt-a-Mile donor, you have the opportunity to be a steward of the trail by giving back to something you love – the trail and the Lake Tahoe Basin.
How much does a Vista or Mile cost?
Vistas are available for a one-time tax-deductible donation of $5,000.
Miles are available for a one-time tax-deductible donation of $10,000.
How DO I ADOPT A VISTA or Mile?
Check out our available vistas on the interactive map above or choose your own special vista or mile near the Tahoe Rim Trail. Fill out the form to the right or contact Veronica Palmer, Development Director, directly at 775-298-4490 or at veronicap@tahoerimtrail.org to discuss options. We have plenty to choose from along the Tahoe Rim Trail system.
How will my adoption be recognized?
To preserve the character of the trail and follow the Land Manager regulations we do not post anything on the physical trail for adopted vistas and miles. Instead, we include a list of all of the adopted vistas and miles on the two Trailhead kiosks nearest the location.
Every adopter also receives a framed plaque that includes a photo of the location, a certificate with the dedication, and a map of the exact location.
‘Views we love’ feature in the Trail Blazer Magazine
With your approval, your Vista or Mile will be featured in the Views We Love segment of our bi-annual Trail Blazer magazine. Tell our trail community about the person you are dedicating this spot to or what supporting the trail means to you. Below are some examples of past highlights.
